ICL Boulby raises thousands for GNAAS

ICL Boulby have demonstrated their continued commitment to GNAAS after raising thousands of pounds this year for our charity.

Their most significant single donation came from their annual Winter Snowball event, where they organised raffles to raise money for GNAAS, and ICL Boulby match funded the amount, resulting in a total donation of £4,995.

They also entered a team at our charity golf days in the North East and Cumbria and additionally sponsored one of the holes at both events to provide further financial support and give their employees an enjoyable day out.

Over the years colleagues at the North Yorkshire mining company have supported GNAAS in several other ways including a week-long coast-to-coast walk, clothing donations, and donating a percentage of their wages.

Grahame Wallace, VP and General Manager at ICL Boulby, said: “Our employees recognise the critical role GNAAS plays in our community and choose to support the service on a personal level through our payroll giving program, where employees can contribute a portion of their wages each month, this ensures a consistent approach to supporting this vital service. I’m proud to see our employees actively participating in making a difference.”

In recognition of their support, ICL Boulby was awarded Corporate Partner status by our charity, which is given to businesses who raise a minimum of £5,000 in a year.

In return they receive several benefits including invites to charity events, use of our facilities and a visit to our base to see the helicopter up close.

Grahame added: “As a unique industry working both on the surface and deep underground as well as being situated in a fairly remote area of North Yorkshire, we hope we never need your lifesaving service but knowing that the air ambulance is available and could be the difference between life and death, reinforces our commitment to supporting you.

“Our involvement is not just from a corporate perspective; it is also driven by the passionate support of our employees who recognise the vital role GNAAS plays in the region for everybody.”
